Rabat - With the goal of reaching thousands of youth in Grand Casablanca, non-profit organization TIBU Morocco opened its first basketball center in Ain Sebaa on Nov. 4. The center, called Basketball for Everyone, is located in the primary school Al Imam Al Jazouli.
“We are certain that through basketball we can encourage school sports and inculcate noble values such as citizenship, tolerance an teamwork,” the organization said in a press release.
This athletic and educational program will teach youth the fundamentals of basketball, English lessons, a leadership class and more. By 2016, TIBU Morocco hopes to launch five more similar centers. By 2025 the organization aims to directly reach 180,000 youth across the country.
TIBU Morocco was founded in 2010 with the mission of creating youth who are passionate about basketball and promoting their physical development. TIBU’s basketball academy was opened in 2013 for youth ages four to 18.
Secretary Zariat, founder of TIBU Morocco said the opening of this center demonstrates the joint effort of the Ministry of National Games and the United States Embassy in Morocco with the goal of promoting school sports across the country.
