Washington – The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the UNFCCC, scheduled for November in Marrakech, will be "a huge success", Director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Jeffrey Sachs, said, Thursday in Washington.
"The COP 22 will be a huge success. Morocco is writing history" in the fight against climate change, Sachs told MAP on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Morocco and three international organizations for sustainable development on the organization of the " Low Emissions Solutions Conference " as part of the COP22.
The UN official hailed, in this regard, Morocco's leadership in promoting renewable energy, highlighting its "huge potential" and "incredible determination" which constitute "a source of inspiration" for other countries participating in the COP 22.
The Marrakesh Conference, he said, will allow the international community to act urgently for effective implementation of the Paris Agreement.
