Rabat - Minister of Moroccan Expatriates and Migration Affairs has called for providing to Moroccan prostitutes living abroad.
Anis Birou, Minister of Moroccan Expatriates and Migration Affairs, spoke on Friday at the Parliament in Rabat, “admitting presence of Moroccan prostitutes abroad,” according to the Arabic speaking newspaper Assabah in its issue 5013.
Assabah journalist Abdellah El Gaouzi explains that the majority of these women are present in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
“Certain immigrants living in Turkey are even resorting to denying their Moroccan nationalities due to the negative reputation that was acquired through the increasing presence of female Moroccan prostitutes in Turkey,” explains El Gaouzi.
Rachida Benmassoud, Deputy-President of the House of Representatives, elaborated on the topic that same day, saying that “international reports have stated that there is an increased presence of human trafficking that targets immigrant Moroccan women in Gulf countries through prostitution.”
Benmassoud also explained, according to the same source, that the core of the issue resides in the lack of legal and social support provided by Moroccan embassies and consulates on foreign ground to these immigrant women.
Birou answered this concern by stating that “the majority of Moroccan women living abroad are a pride for the Kingdom and are an embodiment of success.”
He also stressed that Moroccan female prostitutes abroad should be helped, as they are forced into such unfortunate conditions.
