Rabat - King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, launched, on Thursday in Rabat, the construction works of a day center for Alzheimer patients, a medical and social project providing health care for mild or moderate Alzheimer patients, and those living at home, combined with assistance for their family aids.
The first of its kind in Morocco, the project is worth 7 million dirhams and financed by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
The center will provide quality medical care, as well as support for patients, their family, and in-home caregivers to boost their role and enhance their action through training and information.
The facility, which will be carried out on an area of 1,178 m2, has medical and psychosocial centers.
The medical center will offer care in general medicine, geriatrics and physical therapy. As for the psychosocial center, it will feature workshops for sick people (cognitive simulation, artistic mediation) and for caregivers (training and awareness).
Patients and caregivers will also participate in joint workshops to strengthen social ties.
