By Safae Kajouane

Rabat- Moroccan government officials signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Chinese group HAITE Monday in Tangier.

The agreement aims to promote and support bilateral cooperation and the strategic partnership between Morocco and China.

The agreement was signed by Ilyass El Omari, president of the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Li Bio president of HAITE group, and Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, and New Technology.

By virtue of the agreement, the HAITE group, one of the pioneers of Chinese industry, will soon begin construction of an industrial and residential park in Tangier.

"The project to industrialize the city requires an investment of about $10 billion and it is expected to create more than 300,000 jobs," said El Omari. “50% of the city’s land is available for the initiation of work,” he added.

“This [effort to industrialize] cities is a strategic project that aims to promote the economic and social development in Morocco, as well as enhance the competitiveness of China,” said Moulay Hafid Elalamy.
