Rabat - A court of justice in Dubai sentenced an Egyptian man to life imprisonment for the rape of a young Moroccan woman.
The Egyptian rapist was convicted for rape under the threat of a weapon and impersonation of a police officer, according to The National newspaper on Tuesday.
Following the attack, the victim filed a complaint with the local police.
The rapist was arrested last April when United Arab Emirates' authorities located his whereabouts four days after the investigation began.
The attack occurred last March when the attacker followed the victim as she exited a coffee shop in Dubai.
According to the same source, the rapist, who was usurping the identity of a police officer, followed the Moroccan woman to the building in which she resides.
He reportedly got in the same elevator as the woman and threatened her with a knife before raping her in an annex of the residence.
The young Moroccan told the police that during the rape, the attacker dropped a walkie-talkie commonly used by the police.
The Moroccan woman, 23, whose name was not revealed, works at a hair salon in Dubai, the same source noted.
