Rabat - The city of Tangier will host its second annual Model United Nations (MUN) from April 22nd through the 24th, at the American School of Tangier’s campus and the Severo Ochoa auditorium.
Under the theme of “Terrorism,” the second Tangier MUN aims to showcase how to fight terrorism as a serious global affair.
The three-day event will focus on the promotion of human rights, consolidation of international relations, and the preparation of students for diplomacy. The conference will provide a platform for the students to improve their leadership, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
The event will include round tables, conferences, and networking opportunities for students and delegates.
During the event’s activities, 100 delegates will take the role of budding diplomats, managing the international organizations’ operations and strategies for the sake of fostering peace among nations and promoting human rights.
The MUN is regarded as an excellent opportunity for young Moroccans to discover the United Nations’ procedures and protocols. In addition, it represents a stepping-stone for students to achieve their future dreams of working in the field of diplomacy.
“We are very set on having fruitful, productive, and engaging debate throughout the three-day event, which will include an opening ceremony on the first day where a group of ambassador delegates will deliver their speeches about their country's position and political background,” said Nouhaila Bouhout, President of the General Assembly, to Morocco World News.
The annual event aims to supply the delegates with the proposals that enable them to handle serious global affairs, “We aim to help the delegates in their future process to face the global challenges and overcome the obstacles that impede the world’s development,” Bouhout added.
At the end of the event, the diligent delegates in committee will obtain a certificate, and the best delegate in each committee will receive a gavel.
The UN is an international organization created in 1945, which aims to maintain peace in the world through international cooperation and consolidate the harmonious ties between all nations.It also focuses on the idea of promoting human rights and economic and social progress across the world.
