Rabat - The Moroccan Tourism Ministry, was granted, recently in Cap Town, the 2016 African Responsible Tourism Awards of the "World Responsible Tourism Awards."
Ranking 2nd in the "best public policy" category, the award mirrors Morocco's commitment to developing a sustainable tourism offer.
It is also a recognition of the Kingdom as a leader in sustainable tourist industry at the continent level, said a statement by the ministry.
With "Vision 2020," Morocco made sustainable development as one of the basic pillars of its strategy according to an approach taking account of the sustainability in all segments of the tourism value chain, it said.
The event's long-list includes over 60 tourism organizations, initiatives, businesses and projects across eight categories. These categories include wildlife conservation, poverty reduction, best responsible tourism marketing campaign and best operator for people with disabilities.
