Fez - King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, left Morocco Tuesday afternoon heading for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to take part in the Morocco-GCC Summit, which will be held on April 20 in Riyadh.
Upon His departure from the Fez-Saiss airport, the King reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard who made the honors before being greeted by Head of Government, Abdelillah Benkirane, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Councilors, Hakim Benchamach, and Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad.
King Mohammed VI was also greeted by Lieutenant General Bouchaib Arroub, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and commander of the Southern Zone, Lieutenant-General Hosni Benslimane, commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, General Ahmed Boutaleb, Inspector of the Royal Air Forces, Vice Admiral Mohamed Laghmari, Inspector of the Royal Navy, and Brigadier General Mustapha Mestour, Inspector of the Auxiliary Forces (northern zone).
The Sovereign was also greeted by Director General of National Security and Director General of Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Chargé d'Affaires of the Saudi embassy in Morocco, Walid Ben Abdallah Mouqim, wali of Fez-Meknes region, governor of the prefecture of Fez, Said Zniber, Chairman of the Fez-Meknes regional council, Mohand Laenser, as well as several civil and military figures.
During this visit, the King is accompanied by a large delegation including the Sovereign's Advisers, Taieb Fassi Fihri, Fouad Ali El Himma, Yassir Znagui and Abdeltif Menouni, Chargé d'affaires at the Royal Office, Mohamed Kettani, Foreign Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar and Minister Delegate to the Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita.
The Morocco-GCC Summit, which will bring together the sovereign and His brother leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), will give new impetus to the strategic and multifaceted partnership between Morocco and these countries.
First of its kind, this high-level summit will also be an opportunity for consultation and coordination of positions to take up the challenges and threats facing the Arab region, exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest and develop common positions on this subject, especially within this delicate regional and international context.
At the end of the summit, the King will pay fraternity and working visits to several countries of the region.
