Rabat - Moroccan minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar, told Friday Fayyez Al-Sarraj, chairman of the Libyan Presidency Council, the Kingdom of Morocco considers Libyan national unity government as the "official and sole" interlocutor.
Mezouar, who received Al-Sarraj following the signing by Libyan parties on Thursday in Skhirat (30 km south of Rabat) of a Libyan political agreement to end the crisis in Libya, stressed that "the Kingdom of Morocco which, under high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied the Libyan brothers since the start of the process of inter-Libyan national dialogue in Skhirat, will provide all political, technical and practical support, according to the needs expressed by the government of national unity," Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said in a statement.
The minister stressed on this occasion that the signature of Skhirat Agreement is "a fundamental step to put Libya on the path to security, stability and development," saying that "the priority now is to implement the provisions of this agreement, in particular the announcement of the official composition of the government of national unity."
The Kingdom of Morocco calls on all Libyan parties to display a spirit of national consensus and to put Libya's interests above all considerations, the statement added.
The agreement was signed Thursday in Skhirat, by representatives of all parties taking part in the inter-Libyan dialogue, held under the aegis of the UN support mission in Libya, mainly the Tobrouk agreement (recognized by the international community), the National General Congress, called the Tripoli parliament, independent figures and representatives of the civil society.
Morocco had hosted several UN-sponsored rounds of talks.
