New York - A video posted on YouTube on Tuesday shows a Moroccan man pretending to be a Syrian refugee in order to seek asylum in Denmark.
The footage begins when a Danish citizen, most likely an NGO Refugee Assistance volunteer, asks the Moroccan man to disclose his country of origin.
The Moroccan outright lies to the Danish man reassuring him that he is from Syria and that he has family in Sweden.
The Moroccan is trying to impersonate a Syrian refugee to be granted refugee status in the European country, known for its “open-borders” policy.
When the Danish man asks him to show his alleged Syrian identity papers, he claims to have lost them.
However, one of the migrants in the group, a Moroccan man also, tells the Danish citizen that the fake Syrian refugee is indeed Moroccan and that he knows him from Morocco.
One of the biggest problems facing Denmark is the influx of migrants from other countries, mainly Morocco and Algeria, that have entered the Scandinavian country alongside Syrian refugees.
